Originals, Prints and a Party!

Last year I had the opportunity to illustrate a wonderful children’s (but not just children’s…) book thanks to some very generous crowd-funding. We’re still celebrating the publication of The Crystal Mirror by having a launch party next month in London, and opening the sale of prints and original artwork to everyone, not just those who took part in the funding campaign.

If you’re in London, I do hope you’ll be able to join us for the party on February 19th, where Tim will be reading from the stories, I’ll be live drawing and there’ll be lots of lovely food and entertainment for all ages…

And finally, as a special one-off, I have a large print of “Wouldn’t you rather have some tea?” to give away!

Cuddliest Monster Print

smudge

This one came back from the printers ever so slightly damaged, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable offering it for sale. It has a black smudge in the top left-hand corner which could probably be covered by a mount or frame (or you could decide that you don’t mind). It’s not perfect, but it’s not far off.

The print is A2 sized, on archival quality 100% cotton paper. It will come signed, and marked as an artist’s proof (A/P) rather than one of the edition.

To be in with a chance of winning just leave a comment below, letting me know the best way to contact you. You can also Tweet or Facebook about our launch party (and let me know you’ve done so by tagging @KatieGreenBean on Twitter or Katie Green Illustration on Facebook) to be entered more than once into the draw. The winner will be announced next Friday, February 7th. Good luck!

Painting

George

Earlier this week I shared a scene from Lighter Than My Shadow that didn’t quite make it into the book. It featured my family’s dog, George, doing one of the things dogs do best. It got me thinking about him, remembering him fondly, and then I remembered this painting of him I made recently but hadn’t shared. Here he is in his favourite environment: my aunt’s vegetable garden, with a tennis ball in his mouth (which he must have just found, because if he’d had it a moment longer it would have been shredded and destroyed!).

The Crystal Mirror is Here!

Wait five years for Katie to finish a book and then two come along at once!

Katie Holding The Crystal Mirror

I can hardly believe that just over a month since Lighter Than My Shadow was published, The Crystal Mirror is going out into the world as well. It was perhaps not the wisest decision I’ve ever made to agree to illustrate a 96-page collection of stories in the six months between finishing LTMS and publication. But, I was up for the challenge and thanks some extremely generous folk who responded to our crowd-funding campaign it was financially viable. As a result I spent six months collaborating with one of my dearest friends, author Tim Malnick, producing our beautiful book.

The official publication date is today, and The Crystal Mirror is now available in my online shop. However, the official launch party will come at the end of the month, with a rather special celebration (including some characters from the stories in the flesh!) in Leigh Woods, near Bristol. It would be lovely to see you there!

The Crystal Mirror Cover

I’m very, very excited to show off the front cover design for the book I’m currently working on, The Crystal Mirror & Other Stories.

The Crystal Mirror Cover

This collection of five stories was written by a good friend of mine, Tim Malnick, so it’s been great to have the opportunity to collaborate. Not only that, but the stories themselves are full of princes, princesses, monsters and faraway places – just the kind of things you dream about painting when you’re a little girl who wants to grow up and be an illustrator. I am having the time of my life.

The Crystal Mirror & Other Stories will be published by Vala in November!
