The Green Bean

The Green Bean is a bimonthly zine that has been running regularly (ish) since 2010. The content celebrates the small things and the everyday, featuring observational drawings and comics, recipes, book reviews and craft projects. Handwritten and drawn throughout and printed on 100% recycled paper, each issue is finished by hand, signed and numbered (editions of 250). The Green Bean is sold at comic and zine fairs around the UK as well as online, and has subscribers all over the world.

The Green Bean Volume 4 Issue 5The latest issueΒ of The Green Bean is about turning 30, which happened to me last year amid a flurry of excitement as my first book, Lighter Than My Shadow, was published. Instead of spending the last months of my twenties fulfilling a grand and ambitious “30 before 30” list, I decided to stop and take the time to appreciate some of my favourite memories and experiences of my life so far. The resulting list, documented and illustrated in this zine, surprised me in many ways…

This latest Green Bean, back issues, complete volumes and yearly subscriptions can all be purchased in myΒ EtsyΒ shop.

People often ask “What is The Green Bean?” and in the past I’ve struggled to adequately explain. I decided instead to draw a comic that tells more of The Green Bean’s story, what it is and why…
